I have started reading the book Natural-Born Cyborgs and I must admit I am not very far into the book but there was a passage in the Introduction that caught my attention and made me realize the truthfulness of the statement. The author, Andy Clark, is talking about how much people rely on technology today.
The temporary disability caused by a dead battery is unnerving. It seems we just aren’t ourselves today. (The loss of my laptop … underlined this in a painfully personal way. I was left dazed, confused, and visibly enfeebled-the victim of the cyborg equivalend of a mild stroke.)

I must admit. If I didn’t have my computers or Palm Pilot I would be quite lost. Until reading that passage I had not fully realized how much I, and many others, rely on technology more than I may rely on some body parts (like my fingernails).
