Blu-Ray chooses antipiracy plan | CNET News.com:

The Blu-Ray Disc Association, which is developing one of two rival high-definition, high-capacity next-generation DVD formats, has formally announced its copy-protection plans. The new discs will use the Advanced Access Content System (AACS) being developed by a consortium of studios and technology companies, the group said Tuesday. AACS is also being used by HD DVD, the rival disc format.

Blu-Ray is also adding an extra identification layer on its discs that will guard against mass production piracy.
